Pastoral Council Member: Andrew Johnson

Our Pastoral Council consists of three pastoral staff and four lay-leaders from our church congregation. The council is responsible for the spiritual oversight and direction of CI Baptist Church. Together the council members serve the church family through prayer, administering baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and vision-casting. They also serve in various other ministries in church life.

We want to highlight these servant-hearted leaders so you can get to know them better. This week, let’s meet Pastoral Council member Andrew Johnson:

  1. How old are you? 50 (about to be 51 on January 20th)

  2. Who all is in your family? Wife - Christie, we will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary on February 16th this year - God willing. Son - Jonah (26), married to Sarah, live in Atlanta, GA. Daughter - Noelle (22), married to Nathanael, live in Jackson, MS. Son - Davis (18 about to be 19 on January 24th), freshman at Florida State University studying Accounting (like his dad!)

  3. Do you have a skill or talent that most people don’t know you have? No (sadly)

  4. How did you come to faith in Christ? I grew up in a strong Christian home with godly parents who taught me about the love of Jesus and lived it daily in service to Him. They carried out their greatest parental responsibilities by guiding their children to faith in God and receiving His gift of eternal life. I actually "officially" gave my life to Christ at a Cayman Keswick as a young teenager at Elmslie.

  5. Where do you serve in church life? I serve as member of Pastoral Council here at CIBC. I previously served on Leadership Council and on Finance Committee as well as on various projects of our Men's Ministry.

  6. How long have you been at CIBC? I have been a member of CIBC since its inception in 2005.

  7. What’s the most enjoyable part of being on PC? Our weekly Wednesday morning fellowship of studying God's word and praying for the people of CIBC. Especially because each brother brings the Word laid on his heart each week and leads an amazing time of discussion around that Word. I always learn something new or hear a perspective not heard before which illuminates God's Word even more.

  8. What’s the most challenging part of being on PC? Being consistent with the shepherding responsibilities of contacting our assigned members.

  9. Why do you love CIBC? We stay true to our mission and vision and we genuinely love each other. CIBC is a place of pure joy through the grace, mercy and blessings of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

  10. What’s your favorite book of the Bible? Really?! Just one :) - how about one Old Testament and One New Testament?! Psalms and Galations.
